The Business Equity Fund at the Boston Foundation is designed to address longstanding barriers to growth financing and technical assistance that have historically limited opportunities for entrepreneurs of color.
-
The Business Equity Fund was created in 2018 as a core component of an ecosystem to grow enterprises of color in Greater Boston.
-
That ecosystem includes the Foundation for Business Equity’s Business Equity Initiative (BEI) program, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s Pacesetters Initiative, which encourages its members to work with minority-owned businesses, and the Fund. Together, they provide capacity, capital, and contracts to Black and Latinx businesses to help them grow.
The BASE combines exceptional athletic training and competition with education and career resources to empower student-athletes to achieve their full potential both on and off the field.
-
Founded in 2013 by community leader Robert Lewis, Jr., The BASE builds on 40 years of the Boston Astros. Mr. Lewis first began coaching the "Boston Astros" in the Villa Victoria community in the 1970s, with only a handful of youth. Since then, hundreds have represented the Astros, and The BASE extends the influential culture and foundation of success to many more.
